David T. Colston, P.E. Principal Engineer, President

Dave Colston

  • B.S. Mechanical/Structural Engineering – University of South Florida
  • Registered Professional Engineer (Civil/Structural) – Florida, Georgia, and Texas
  • Board Certified Structural Engineer (SECB)

Dave has working in the engineering industry for over thirty years. Fourteen of those have been spent focused on the construction industry as a design profession, or assuming duties as a Special Inspector for Owners and government building departments. Dave founded SEP in March of 2000 and ever since has been specializing in restoration projects for condominiums and mid-rise commercial buildings. Dave is the backbone of SEP and serves to oversee, evaluate, approve, and coordinate within all projects. His unique engineering background gives him the ability to analyze the microscopic structural interactions of a project, while overseeing the macroscopic progress of it. He is affiliated with the American Society of Engineers, National Roofing Contractors Association, American Society of Wind Engineers, and International Concrete Repair Institute of which he is a former Board Member.

RebekahRebekah, Office Manager

Rebekah is a key player on the SEP team and serves dutifully the role of office manager.  She is responsible for all accounts receivable and payable, and helps maintain the administrative duties required for each and every project.  Rebekah’s foremost strength is providing the client with the personal service they need, constantly communicating about all aspects of the project.  Within the office she helps keeps all engineers up-to-date on the current status of projects, contracts, and permitting. 


Henry RandHenry Rand, E.I.T. Project Engineer

  • Project Manager – Rand Construction

Henry joined the SEP team fresh out of FAU, and has taken the reigns of several projects from railing and window installations through concrete restoration. Henry’s background with the construction industry has proven an invaluable asset in his fluent transfer from student to project engineer. As a design engineer, he is familiar with ACI 318, 440, and 530, ASCE 7-08 Wind loads, Florida Building Code 2010, Prestressing, and Post-tensioning. Henry is also an active member of the Florida Structural Engineering Association’s Palm Beach County Chapter.

Carl SalvoCarl F. Salvo, BN Building Inspector

  • Aluminum Specialties Contractor (Inactive Status)
  • Military Intelligence, Ret.

Coming from an extensive background in construction, Carl has been licensed as a Building Inspector since February of 2004 and has proven himself to be an integral part of the Structural Engineering Professionals team since the summer of 2005. During his long career, Carl held an Aluminum Specialties Contractor License and worked closely with General Contractors and Engineers alike. Carl’s ability and hands on experience in the industry allowed him to take on both large and small projects such as the $2.75M dollar Portifino South Condominium project in West Palm Beach, Florida involving the removal and replacement of sliding glass doors.

Carl’s investigative background, experience, and attention to detail have made him an important part in the inspection process and quality control to the benefit of our most important assets, our clients.

JoshSJoshua Schramm, Engineer Assistant

Josh came to Structural Engineering Professionals in the latter part of summer 2012. As an intern, Josh has jumped right in and is helping across several aspects of the company.
